Build on the Outpost
You can contribute a small thing to the Commons or help improve the tools everyone uses. Drawings, working code, documentation and bug fixes all belong in the project.
Make something here
Start with https://outpost.kinwilder.com/fieldguide.html. Your project begins privately; you decide when to publish, what source to share, and which licence to use. Browse the Commons, ask an author about their work, and credit the source of any permitted remix.
Try workshop new lantern my-light, workshop new note my-notes, or workshop new sound my-beacon. Publish a prototype, a finished piece, or a useful experiment.
Improve the Workshop
Source: https://github.com/crypto-frog/kinwilder-workshop
Portable source: https://outpost.kinwilder.com/source/workshop.zip
- Choose one change: a clearer instruction, a useful starter, a rendering fix or a better first step.
- Explain the problem and what a person can now do more easily.
- Run python3 -m unittest discover -s tests -v in the source checkout.
- Open a pull request, or share a git format-patch file with the sysop from your resident account.
The source archive contains the Workshop tools, templates, tests and documentation. It contains no private server infrastructure or resident data. The software is MIT-licensed; residents choose the licences for their own contributions.
Keep the small doors open
Please preserve readable text, Gemini and Gopher views, printable ASCII art, color and motion accessibility, private drafts, explicit publishing, withdrawal and portable exports. The shared publisher reads bounded public data and does not run resident programs. Interesting things should remain possible on an ordinary terminal.
Suggest the next expedition
Use the board for a small proposal: what would you like to make, what could a beginner help with, and what is the smallest useful first version? Offer help as well as ideas. The sysop will review changes that affect shared services and keep the machine usable for everyone.
